I recently posted about a health transformation I’ve undergone the last 6 months, and with that I’ve been getting a lot of questions about it. One question I’ve received numerous times is in regards to my eating habits. When I mention my morning smoothie, I automatically get a request to share the recipe, so I knew a blog post would be the most convenient way to share.

It really irks my nerves when I’m looking for a recipe online, and the blogger has paragraph after paragraph of information about a recipe before actually posting it. I never read it and just scroll straight down to the actual recipe.

With that being said, I’m going to get straight to it. Here is the morning smoothie recipe I’ve been using for the last several months with great success!

Note: I make a large smoothie for myself, so if this recipe proves to be too much for 1 serving for you, either save half for the next day in an air-tight container or cut the portions down.

Ingredients:
-1 cup coconut water
-1/2 cup coconut milk (or non-dairy milk of your choice)
-2-2 1/2 cups greens of choice (I use a mix of baby kale, arugula, swiss chard, spinach, etc.)
-A few leaves of fresh mint
-1 cup frozen berries
-1 tbsp. local honey
-2 tbsp. plain greek yogurt (or an oversized spoonful like me!)

Directions:
Throw everything in the blender in the order of the ingredients above and blend until smooth.

If you don’t consume dairy, you can use 1/2 an avocado or frozen avocado chunks to make the smoothie creamy. You can also add celery, fresh ginger, apple, collagen or whatever else you feel would taste great in the smoothie!

The most important part of the smoothie is ensuring you’re getting significantly more greens than berries. If you’re smoothie is coming out red or purple, that’s a great indicator you can probably add more greens!
