I had to come on here and do a quick post with the recipe for my favorite, clean drinking cocktail! If you’re like me, and you enjoy a cocktail from time to time, but don’t really enjoy the added sugar and calories, then this is the ticket for you. Read on for the super simple recipe.
Living in Hawaii and enjoying the sunshine nearly every day means that it often feels like a permanent vacation. And with any vacation usually comes cocktails!?
As much as I love a good Mai Tai, they have a ton of sugar and a few different rums… I don’t want to consume that on a weekly basis by any means. Let’s face it, alcohol is hard enough on your system as it is. Add alongside it massive amounts of sugar and you’re just asking for trouble in digestive and blood sugar paradise.
Here’s the simple recipe:
-1 cup of coconut water of choice
-1 shot vodka
-1 shot cranberry juice
-1-2 drops lime essential oil
-Ice as desired
Add coconut water of choice to a glass filled with ice. I say of choice because sometimes I prefer the coconut water with pineapple for an added tropical twist!
Add vodka of choice, though Grey Goose is the best in my opinion.?
Add 1 shot of cranberry juice. In order to keep this a truly clean cocktail, invest in glass bottled juice, no matter if you’re using cranberry, pomegranate, pineapple or apple juice. Glass bottles are much healthier for you and if you?re only using a shot or two at a time, the bottle will last a long time and the higher price will be worth it! Make sure you?re also buying a no sugar added, pure juice not from concentrate.
If you don?t have lime essential oil, a lime slice with a sprinkle of zest is just as tasty!
Lastly, if you have room in your glass, top it off with a little more coconut water or add more ice.
